PROJECT LAUNCH MEETING AGENDA
•Introduction of the project to the group and its contributions/ benefits to the parent organization.
•The project’s tentative priority may be announced, as should the tentative budget estimate used in the project selection process.
•If the due dates for deliverables have been contracted, this should also be made clear.
•Discussions of the project scope so as to develop a general understanding of what functional department inputs the project will need and to obtain their commitments.
•Actual planning at the project launch meeting should not go beyond the most aggregated/high level plan unless the deliverables are well understood or the delivery date is cast in concrete and the organization has considerable experience with similar projects.
•Of course, if this is the case, a major launch meeting may not be required.
•It is sufficient to get a firm commitment from functional managers to study the project business case or proposals and return for another meeting with a technically (and politically) feasible plan for their dept’s input to the project.
